NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 22, 2009 – The National Federation of Independent Business, Tennessee’s leading small business association, has endorsed Pat Marsh in the race for the open seat in the 62nd House District.
The endorsement was made by NFIB/Tennessee SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, which is comprised exclusively of NFIB members. A special election is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13.
“Pat Marsh is a successful entrepreneur who understands the challenges of running a profitable enterprise,” said Jim Brown, state director of NFIB/Tennessee. “His understanding comes from meeting a payroll and dealing with excessive regulation and soaring healthcare costs.
“Our members support his strong belief in running government with fiscal responsibility and emphasizing policies that promote job creation rather than impede it,” Brown said. “NFIB believes Pat Marsh will do an excellent job representing the interests of small business in House District 62.”
Marsh said, “I truly appreciate NFIB’s support. I believe it’s crucial that state government do everything it can to help Tennessee’s small businesses continue to grow and create jobs. When we help entrepreneurs and small, family-owned businesses succeed, we help make Tennessee’s economy stronger.”
NFIB’s endorsement is critical to the Marsh campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB has pledged it will activate its grassroots network on behalf of the Marsh campaign. NFIB’s political support is based on the candidates’ positions and records on small business issues.
