State Senators Tracy and Ketron Join Pat Marsh for Meet and Greet

SHELBYVILLE, TN – State House District 62 candidate Pat Marsh last night held a “Meet and Greet” event in Lincoln County where State Senators Jim Tracy and Bill Ketron appeared in support of Marsh.

“Marsh’s small business experience and dedication to the constituents in District 62 put him a cut above the other candidates in this race,” said State Senator Jim Tracy.  “Ty’s liberal friends in the legislature are doing everything they can to make sure they don’t lose this seat.   Apparently that means keeping their candidate from being accountable to voters on issues such as reckless government spending and his union’s support for President Obama’s government takeover of health care.  When constituents learn the truth about Ty’s stance on these issues, they’ll be casting their ballot for Pat Marsh.”

The “Meet and Greet” at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds was attended by some 200 people.  Last night’s event is just the latest in a series of public appearances and town hall debates attended by Marsh, who continues to travel across District 62 to talk directly with constituents about the critical issues facing the district and state.  Despite invitations, his Democrat opponent, Ty Cobb, has failed to appear at a number of events including town hall debates with other candidates.

“Pat Marsh is a strong candidate and I was honored to stand by him at last night’s event,” said State Senator Bill Ketron.  “This event was yet another example of Pat’s willingness to speak with voters face-to-face and answer questions about his plans to fight for smaller government, lower taxes and a stronger economy.  He stands in stark contrast to his opponent Ty Cobb who refuses to face other candidates at town hall meetings and then accuses them of ducking debates.  Ty can’t have it both ways.  If he is going to accuse other candidates of ducking debates, then he better be ready to show up to debates himself.”

Following is a timeline that shows Cobb’s unwillingness to join other candidates in front of District 62 constituents:

August 20th – Pat Marsh squared off against other primary candidates, including Chris Brown, at a town hall meeting at Central High School.  Ty Cobb was the only candidate invited and not in attendance.

September 8th – Marsh wrote to Cobb requesting his participation in a series of town hall forums.  Cobb turned down the request.

September 10th – Cobb’s campaign manager responded to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette regarding Cobb’s participation in town hall debates with “we’re not going to have the time.”

September 14th – Marsh wrote to Brown urging all three candidates to participate in a town hall meeting.

September 15th – While Ty Cobb’s “State House negotiators” tried to set debate parameters, Marsh responded to a letter from Ty Cobb and stated that only he and his campaign negotiate debate terms.

September 21st – Marsh attended a town hall debate held by candidate Chris Brown.  Ty Cobb was invited, but did not attend.

Pat Marsh is a Lincoln County native and currently resides in Shelbyville with his wife Mary.  Marsh serves the community as a member and past President of the Rotary Club and is active in the Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce, the Tennessee Trucking Association and American Trucking Association. He also sits on the Board of the National Walking Horse Celebration.  He is also a member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.
