State Senator Jim Tracy Discusses District 62 Special Election, Democrat Ty Cobb’s Union Endorsement
In a radio interview with WTN’s Ralph Bristol today, State Senator Jim Tracy spoke about the special election for the State House District 62 seat. He spoke about Republican candidate and small businessman Pat Marsh who plans to use his small business experience to fight for a stronger economy that will fuel job growth in the district. Senator Tracy also discussed Marsh’s Democrat opponent, Ty Cobb, who was recently endorsed by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) which has extremely close ties with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Following are key excerpts from Tracy’s interview:
“You’ve got a guy that’s going to be in the back pocket of the unions or you’ve got a businessman, an independent businessman that’s never been involved in politics that knows how to make a payroll and balance the budget. So it is a big difference, a contrast.”
“On the Democrat side we’ve got a young man, he’s a nice man I think but he’s been endorsed by all these unions – the SEIU which is basically associated with ACORN… [E]verybody listening today probably knows what is going on in the news with ACORN and SEIU.”
“Well, I think people are looking at qualifications now. I think people now – we’ve got a lot more Independents Ralph, I think now that look at someone’s qualifications. And with jobs being the number one thing and someone that understands how to make a payroll, I think that is the number one and two things on people’s mind today. Someone that can make their own decisions that are independent… [Pat] has been able to do that over his 35-year career in the business world.”
